Mom’s Spaghetti

This painting, titled "Mom's Spaghetti," was inspired by the cultural significance of spaghetti in Black communities, introduced by Italian immigrants in the late 19th century. Over time, it became a staple dish in Black households, often adapted with ingredients like sugar or ketchup. Beyond being just a meal, spaghetti symbolizes connection across generations, and this piece is a tribute to the comforting dish that always evokes a sense of home. Created with acrylic gouache on watercolor paper, it reflects Jade’s personal nostalgia and love for this timeless food.
